News@dillinger I   Volume 13, Sept. 2017

Dear news@dillinger Readers,

Yet again, Dillinger has set a new world record! You can find more details in our article on
The world's thickest slabs
But it's not always only the "major innovations" that help us along. In many cases, it's precisely smaller changes that assist us in making things easier every day. This class of improvements also includes our article on
Lean technical Terms and Conditions of Supply.
And still more benefits for you, as a Dillinger customer, are implemented in our
E-Service "to go"
"Product Finder" or "Feasibility check" are the keywords here. Then, our section "60 second focus" kicks off a short series of articles on basic questions about our product with the question
So what, in fact, is heavy plate?
We'd also be very glad to deal with your questions here - so please just mail me!
I wish all of you both entertaining and informative reading!

Kind regards from Dillingen,
Yours Bettina Huffer
NEWS
Another world record!

"CC 6" is its name – and it's the latest continuous caster, which has, alongside machines CC 5, CC 4 and CC 3, been supplying Dillinger's heavy-plate rolling mills with slabs of ultra-high quality. And now yet another record has been set on machine CC 6: for the first time anywhere in the world, a slab of a thickness of 600 mm has been cast on a continuous caster!

Technical quotations now slimmed down

A recent survey indicates that many customers would like the following minor improvement - and Dillinger has now implemented it: more basic and non-specific information on the steel offered is now no longer included explicitly in the text portion of the technical quotation, but instead summarised in a separate document, the "Technical Terms and Conditions of Supply". This makes quotations leaner, and more easily comprehensible!

The Dillinger E-Service "to go"

You have always been able to find valuable information on Dillinger heavy plates quickly and easily on our website. And in 2016, the entire homepage was restyled to make it even more customer-friendly. Now the E-Service area is following suit: it is now also "ready to go", optimally displayed, on all terminal devices - and, what's more, with a whole range of new services!

So what, in fact, is heavy plate?

It's the first thing that appears on our homepage: Dillinger is Europe's leading producer of heavy plate. But what precisely does "heavy plate" actually mean? Is there a definition of "heavy plate"? The EN 10079 standard, "Definition of steel products" will help us here.
